You have two chances to listen to me read on the radio Thursday, November 3:
- 12 noon on KUHA’s program “The Front Row” at 91.7 FM or
- 11 p.m. on KUHF at 88.7 FM.
Listen over the Houston airwaves, or stream over the internet. Choose “listen online” on the left sidebar of the website for KUHA or KUHF.
You can hear me read two poems from my forthcoming book, Fronteras, and discuss what hooked me about writing poems. I also talk about blending English and Spanish in my writing.
Dave Parsons, the current Texas Poet Laureate, discusses how he promotes poetry in our state, why he writes elegiac poems, and reads from his work.
You can also hear both of us read in person, along with Robin Davidson and Sam Amadon on Saturday, November 5 at 2 p.m. at Discovery Green Park in downtown Houston. See the Public Poetry website for bios of the other readers.
Come find out why Public Poetry was voted the Best Reading Series for 2011. You can see a map and RSVP for this event on the top of the right sidebar of this blog.
I’ll be reading some brand new poems, so you don’t want to miss it. Plus, the weather should be phenomenal: sunny and mild. A perfect day for visiting the park.
Congratulations on your successes, Elisa! The kids and I listened to your poetry reading on the radio and the boys are excited to know a published author. I can't wait to read more of your poems in your books and I'll be sharing them with my mother in law too who was born in Mexico and moved to Texas in her teenage years.
